How to request deletion of your ProfitHelm data

Overview

ProfitHelm respects your right to control your personal data. You can request deletion of all data associated with your Shopify store at any time. This page explains the deletion process, what data is removed, and expected timelines.

Automatic Deletion (Recommended)

Fastest Method

Uninstall ProfitHelm from Shopify

When you uninstall ProfitHelm from your Shopify store, all your data is automatically deleted within 48 hours.

Steps:

  1. Log in to your Shopify Admin dashboard
  2. Navigate to Settings → Apps and sales channels
  3. Find ProfitHelm in your installed apps list
  4. Click the Uninstall button
  5. Confirm the uninstallation when prompted

What happens after uninstallation:

  • • Shopify sends us an automatic webhook notification
  • • Within 48 hours, all your data is permanently deleted
  • • OAuth tokens for Facebook/Google/TikTok are deleted within 48 hours
  • • Billing is cancelled immediately upon uninstall

Manual Deletion Request

If you want to delete your data without uninstalling the app, or if you need expedited deletion, you can submit a manual deletion request.

How to Request Manual Deletion:

Send an Email

Email us at [email protected] with the subject line: "Data Deletion Request"

Include Required Information

In your email, please provide:

  • • Your Shopify store domain (e.g., yourstore.myshopify.com)
  • • The email address associated with your ProfitHelm account
  • • Confirmation that you want all data permanently deleted
  • • (Optional) Reason for deletion request

Wait for Confirmation

We will process your request within 30 days and send you a confirmation email once deletion is complete.

What Data Gets Deleted

When you request data deletion (either via uninstallation or manual request), the following data is permanently removed from our systems:

Shopify Store Data

  • • Store information and settings
  • • Product catalog and variants
  • • Order history and line items
  • • Cost and pricing data

Advertising Data

  • • Facebook Ads spend history
  • • Google Ads spend history
  • • TikTok Ads spend history
  • • Connected ad account IDs

Authentication & Security

  • • OAuth access tokens (encrypted)
  • • Session data and cookies
  • • Login history and IP addresses
  • • Security logs specific to your account

Reports & Exports

  • • Generated profit reports
  • • P&L statements
  • • Dashboard configurations
  • • Saved date range preferences

Data That May Be Retained

Anonymized usage statistics and aggregated metrics may be retained for service improvement purposes. This data cannot be linked back to you or your store and is used solely for analyzing product features and performance.

Backup Removal

System Process

Timeline: Up to 48 hours after primary deletion

Details: Encrypted backups are automatically purged from our backup systems

Note: Backups are never restored without your explicit authorization

Shopify GDPR Webhooks (Technical Details)

ProfitHelm complies with Shopify's mandatory GDPR requirements through secure webhook endpoints. When you uninstall the app or request data deletion through Shopify, these webhooks are automatically triggered.

Access Request

Purpose: Customer data access requests submitted through Shopify

Our Response: Since we do not collect or store any customer personally identifiable information, we have no customer data to provide. Request is logged and acknowledged.

Customer Deletion

Purpose: Customer data deletion requests submitted through Shopify

Our Response: Since we do not collect or store any customer personally identifiable information, we have no customer data to delete. Request is logged and acknowledged.

shop/redact

Shop Deletion

Purpose: Complete shop data deletion (triggered by app uninstall or deletion request)

Our Response: All shop data is deleted within 48 hours in a secure database transaction, including:

  • All shop information and settings
  • All order and product data
  • All advertising spend data
  • All OAuth tokens (deleted within 48 hours)
  • All expenses and custom business data
  • All subscription and billing records

Security & Compliance

  • • Webhook URL: https://profithelm.com/api/webhooks/shop/redact
  • • Response time: < 5 seconds (Shopify requirement)
  • • Verification: HMAC-SHA256 signature validation
  • • Idempotency: Duplicate requests handled safely

Revoking Third-Party Access

In addition to deleting data from ProfitHelm, you may want to revoke ProfitHelm's access to your advertising platforms:

Facebook/Meta Business

  1. Go to Facebook Business Integrations
  2. Find "ProfitHelm" in the list of active apps
  3. Click "Remove" to revoke access

Google Account

  1. Go to Google Account Permissions
  2. Find "ProfitHelm" under "Third-party apps with account access"
  3. Click "Remove Access"

TikTok for Business

  1. Go to TikTok Privacy Settings
  2. Navigate to "Apps and websites"
  3. Find "ProfitHelm" and click "Remove"

Note: Revoking third-party access will prevent ProfitHelm from syncing new ad spend data, but does not delete historical data already stored. To delete historical data, follow the deletion instructions above.
